Individual Counseling
Who I Can Help with Individual Counseling
I see people with a wide variety of concerns-- people with diagnosable mental health concerns such as:

And people who are making life adjustments and transitions (what I call personal growth work) such as--
- college life stressors
- grad school stressors
- recent relationship breakup
- unhealthy relationship patterns
- dating skills
- becoming a mother
- mothering while healing your own childhood issues
- family of origin issues
- clarifying sense of self
- discovering how to live a life of greater meaning and purpose
- healthy/mature masculinity
My Approach to Therapy
Drawing on Gestalt Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy, my approach to therapy focuses on each person's capability to achieve optimal health. There are 5 sets of skills that are key for this healing process
- Distress Tolerance
- Self-Awareness
- Presence
- Contact
- the process of connecting with another person
- I-Thou Relationship
- when you are with another person can you experience them as a full, unique person? or do your past experiences and wishes clutter up your ability to do this?
As we work on whatever brings you to individual counseling, we will build up your skills in these areas.
